It is Sunday, 10.00 pm now. The Weekend is steadfastly receding away and heralding a fresh new week. Should I be feeling sad or excited? Sunday was the day when there were some elements of “cheat” activity built into my daily chore. I woke up a bit late, did not do the meditation at my usual time, did not do the physical exercise (thanks to my training app advising me to take rest today 😊), consumed a bit of plum cake and junk food and deliberately avoided the stare that my diet plan on my mobile app was throwing at me.
A fresh new week will start tomorrow, and so will the daily chores. We all know daily chores occupies a significant portion of any person’s life. Every person, men or women, old or young will certainly have daily core built into their lifestyle. For some, the activities list is short, and for some, it is long. Some follow it with great consistency each day, while others follow them in spurts. A version of a later category, will do it consistently for a few days, drop them off and do them again. Imagine a typical college student’s breakfast pattern. For some days they will be at 8.30 am (class days) and for someday they will just skip it (e.g. on weekends or exam days). Which pattern is good? There would be arguments on both sides. However, the universal answer could be “it depends”!!
But we may notice, that most successful person (and leaders) will do their daily chores with precise consistency. No matter what, they will always wake up at a fixed time say 5.00 am, between 5-5.20 am, they will complete their meditation, between 5.20-6.00 am they will go for morning jog/walk, 6.00 to 6.30 am they will enjoy their favorite cup of coffee, 6.30-7.70 am they will drop their daughter to school and 8.00 am they head towards their office. Why do they do that? How it helps them? They have been able to successfully condition their mind to follow the chores. Whenever a thought to defer or procrastinate any activity comes, they are simply able to instruct the brain to “SHUT UP” and go-ahead to complete the planned activity. In the process, they can time slice their planned agenda during the day successfully and hence are able to achieve phenomenal levels of productivity which eventually makes them highly successful in life.
Success does not come by just defining an ambitious goal. Success comes from a series of micro habits that get built into our daily chores. This quote below has nicely summed up the power of daily chores.
” The secret of your future is hidden in your daily routine.” Mike Murdock
One more week, one more validation opportunity for us to follow our daily chores 😊
